NFL Prospect Preview: Stanford RB Stepfan Taylor

Wednesday, Apr, 24 2013

A lot of what you can say about Wisconsin RB Montee Ball, you can say about Stepfan Taylor.  Though he doesn't have the career numbers as Ball, Taylor was every bit as important to the Stanford offense as Ball was to the Badgers in 2012.  Taylor is the model of consistency and may be the "solid" choice of RB group this year.

Here is my conversation with David Lombardi of TheBootleg.com talking about Stanford RB Stepfan Taylor

Taylor would make a lot of sense for the Packers.  If Green Bay is going to draft a RB, the consistency of Taylor could be something appetizing to them.  I don't see Taylor going in the frst two rounds and as I have stated with the other RBs, I don't think the Packers should address RB until the third at the earliest.  Taylor may be the perfect pick in the 3rd if the Packers want a RB.  Who knows, he could be available in the 4th round.

NFL Prospect Preview: UCLA RB Jonathan Franklin

Wednesday, Apr, 24 2013

Jonathan Franklin had a huge season in 2012 helping him move up draft boards.  Franklin was #7 on the depth chart as a Freshman, but is now just a few days away from latching onto an NFL team.  His all-around ability could be something that sets him a part from the rest of the field.

Here is my conversation with Ryan Kartje of the Orange County Register on UCLA RB Jonathan Franklin

I believe Franklin would be a good fit in Green Bay.  His pass catching ability (33 in 2012) could make him a dangerous weapon in the Packers offense.  Not to mention he compiled over 1700-yards on the ground.  Franklin could be a good value if available in the 3rd round.

NFL Prospect Preview: Michigan State RB La'veon Bell

Wednesday, Apr, 24 2013

Le'veon Bell is a bruiser.  At 230-pounds, he joins Alabama's Eddie Lacy at the top of the physical back list.  If you need a guy that pick up the tough yards on 3rd and short or at the goal line, Bell could be an ideal choice.  He did come out as a Junior, a move that makes sense for a back that took on as many carries as he did in East Lansing.

Here is my conversation with Dave Berk of Fox Sports Next and Spartan Digest on Michigan State RB Le' veon Bell

Bell, like Lacy or Stanford's Stepfan Taylor, could be the "Thunder" to Dejaun Harris and his "Lightning" persona.  If the Packers are looking at back in the 3rd round and Bell is there, that would make sense.  I think 2nd round is too high for him with the Packers needs.

NFL Prospect Preview: Wisconsin RB Montee Ball

Wednesday, Apr, 24 2013

Montee Ball came back to Wisconsin for his Senior season much to the surprise of many.  Ball's campaign started slow with much blame going to the offensive line.  In the end, Ball likely improved his stock with his play down the stretch and he could be the 2nd back taken this weekend.

Here is my conversation with Benjamin Worgull, the Publisher of BadgerNation.com, on Wisconsin RB Montee Ball

I am curious what the Packers would do if Ball was still on the board for them in the 2nd round.  I am sure it would be a popular pick among Packer fans seeing that he is a Wisconsin guy.  However, how would he fit in this offense?  I think by waiting until the 3rd or 4th round, the value there at the position would be better than snatching Ball.

NFL Prospect Preview: Alabama RB Eddie Lacy

Wednesday, Apr, 24 2013

Many have Alabama's Eddie Lacy as the top back on the board.  He has a combination of size and speed that seperates him from the rest of the pack.

Here is my conversation with the Editor and Publisher of BamaMagazine.com, Kirk McNair, on Lacy

The buzz on Lacy to Green Bay has been up and down the past few weeks.  Though the Packers appear to be in the running for a running back, I am not sure they will be picking one as high as Lacy will go.  If he is in Green Bay, it would have to be at 26th overall.
