If the NFL Playoffs started today...

Tuesday, Dec, 11 2012

Week 14 didn't bring much change to the teams that would be in the post season.  However, in the NFC, Minnesota, Washington, and Dallas turned up the fire on Seattle, Chicago and New York.  Will one of them crack into the picture after week 15?  Baltimore's slide continues in the AFC, although the road may be easier through Houston instead of New England.

NFC Seeds
1.) Atlanta Falcons (11-2)
2.) San Francisco 49ers (9-3-1)
3.) Green Bay Packers (9-4)
4.) New York Giants (8-5)
5.) Seattle Seahawks (8-5)
6.) Chicago Bears (8-5)

NFC Wild Card Round
Packers over Bears
Giants over Seahawks

NFC Divisional Round
Packers over 49ers
Giants over Falcons

NFC Championship Game
Giants over Packers

AFC Seeds
1.) Houston Texans (11-2)
2.) New England Patriots (10-3)
3.) Denver Broncos (10-3)
4.) Baltimore Ravens (10-3)
5.) Indianapolis Colts (9-4)
6.) Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6)

AFC Wild Card Round
Broncos over Steelers
Ravens over Colts

AFC Divisional Round
Texans over Ravens
Patriots over Broncos

AFC Championship Game
Patriots over Texans

Super Bowl
Patriots over Giants

***Hard to pick Atlanta after last week.  I still like Green Bay over the 49ers in San Fran, if that game is in Green bay, the Packers lose. The Giants own the Packers.  Tough to not pick the Patriots in the AFC.  Really, that Super Bowl again?  I am afraid so...***

Three names I like for the Badgers

Friday, Dec, 7 2012

With Bret Bielema bolting Madison for Arkansas, Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez has begun searching for Bret's replacement.  I STRONGLY believe this is a HUGE decision to be made at a program that has never been higher on a National spectrum.  The right move would help the program could stay its course and possibly reach the next level.  The wrong hiring...well, lets just say Wisconsin Football fans will chase them out of town and the turnstile will be in business.

Here are my top 3:

#1 - Boise State Head Coach Chris Petersen
Red turf anyone? Petersen has had MANY opportunities to bolt Boise over the years but he has stayed loyal.  However, with the current state of College Football and Boise moving to the Big East (I think???), maybe it would make sense.  He is 2-0 in BCS games.

#2 - Pittsburgh Head Coach Paul Chryst
I know, Barry said they won't purse Chryst...does that mean Chryst can't purse Wisconsin.  "IF" Wisconsin is his "dream job," Chryst should be doing everything in his power to get it now.  Who knows when it would open again?  Obviously, the Barry/Wisconsin ties are there and yes, it would be tough to get him but the fit is obvious.

#3 - Notre Dame Defensive Coordinator Bob Diaco
I know Barry said yesterday he prefers to hire someone with Head Coaching experience but the job he has done with the Notre Dame defense warrants consideration.  Notre Dame is where they are due in large part to Diaco.  At 39-years old, the fear would be he could pull a Bielema but upside could be enormous.
