Bucks officially hire Kidd
The reports from the last 24-hours have officially come true. The Milwaukee Bucks have announced the hiring of Jason Kidd as their new Head Coach.
In a statement released by the team Tuesday Morning, General Manager John Hammond said the following:
“When you list the characteristics that make a successful head coach, you would include leadership, communication and a competitive drive. Jason used all of those traits to become a 10-time All-Star player in the NBA, and has now translated his on-court success to the bench. We welcome him to the Bucks organization and look forward to building a Championship-caliber team with him as our head coach.”
As for the throughts from Bucks co-owners Marc Lasry and Wes Edens:
“Jason is a determined leader, a tough-minded competitor and a great teammate. We believe his focus, vision and intensity will help him work alongside John and David (Morway) to rebuild the Milwaukee Bucks as we aspire to achieve excellence over the next several years. We are excited that Jason will call Milwaukee his new home.”
The Bucks sent Brooklyn a pair of second round draft picks for Kidd, who was under contract through 2017 with the Nets. Kidd went 44-38 in the 2013-2014 in Brooklyn leading the Nets to the 2nd round of the playoffs.
Kidd replaces Larry Drew who was let go by the team after the news of Kidd's hiring was reported. Drew went 15-67 in his only season in Milwaukee.
The 41 year-old becomes the 14th coach in team history.
