Brewers make three day one selections

The first day of the MLB First-Year-Player Draft was conducted Thursday night.  The Brewers had three selections on day one, all three picks in the top 50.

The Brewers made their first selection at #12 in the first round.  The went with left handed pitcher Kodi Meideros out of Waiakea High School in Hawaii.  General Manager Doug Melvin pointed to the "movement on his pitches" as one of his best attributes.

Next, at #41 overall, the team went with another high school player; Jacob Gatewood, a SS out of Clovis High School in California.

The team's final selection was OF Monte Harrison from Lee's Summit West High School in Missouri.  Harrison was the 50th overall pick.

Day two of the draft begins Friday at noons.  Rounds 3 through 10 are scheduled to take place.
