Gomez drops appeal, sits out Wednesday

After waiting over three weeks to hear a decision from Major League Baseball, Brewers OF Carlos Gomez decided to drop his appeal Wednesday and serve his three game suspension.

The timing of the move makes sense for Gomez and the Brewers.  Gomez had to leave Tuesday's game with Pittsburgh because of tightness in his back.  Instead of sitting a day or two while waiting for a decision, Gomez decided to sit the three games starting with Wednesday's contest.

Gomez was one of four players suspended for the "Easter Sunday Melee" in Pittsburgh back on April, 20th.  Pittsburgh pitcher Gerrit Cole had some words for Gomez after he angered Cole by spending "too much time watching his fly ball" causing some words to be exchanged and the benches cleared.  Despite starting the situation, Cole was not fined or suspended.

Gomez will be eligible to return to the lineup Saturday in Chicago.
