Future Badger lights up Germany

When it comes to recruiting, Wisconsin Basketball Coach Bo Ryan has rarely made a big enough splash that would force anyone outside of the state to take notice.  His lone scholarship player joining the program this fall, according to ESPN, is a 3-star forward out of Illinois who ranks 35th in the country at his position.

This future Badger is Ethan Happ, a 6' 8" High School Senior from Taylor Ridge, Illinois who tips the scales at around 175 pounds.

This past week, playing in an Under-18 tournament for team U.S.A in Germany, Happ may have made a splash for himself.  He was named the tournament's MVP averaging 19-points and 10-rebounds a game helping the United States to a silver medal.

It will be interesting to see Happ's role next season in Madison.  Coach Ryan has a reputation of being overly patient with his young players along with a tendency to pull them quickly from games when they make a mistake.  Add in the fact that Ben Brust is the only player who saw significant minutes leaving the team, playing time will be hard to project.  However, if Happ plays like he did this past week, it will be tough not to find him time on the floor.
