Brewer suspensions: Update

Milwaukee Brewers catcher Martin Maldonado has been suspended for five games and centerfielder Carlos Gomez three games for their roles in a bench clearing melee on Sunday at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

Pirates outfielder Travis Snider was suspended two games and catcher Russell Martin one game.  All four players were also fined.

Pirates starting pitcher Gerrit Cole’s comments sparked the incident, but he received no punishment by the league.

No word on any appeals.  The Brewers released the suspensions via twitter a short time ago.
