Brewers extend win streak to four games

The Milwaukee Brewers got another 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief from their bullpen in a 4-3 win over the San Diego Padres at Miller Park on Monday night.

It’s the fourth straight win for the Brewers, who improved to a Major League best 15-5.

Wily Peralta (3-0, 2.19 era) gave up 3-runs on 6-hits in 6 1/3 innings to earn the win, but he needed help from the bullpen in the 7th.

Will Smith came on to get out of a bases loaded jam in the 7th.  Tyler Thornburg worked a scoreless 8th and Francisco Rodriquez earned his 8th save of the season by working the 9th.  K-Rod increased his career save total to 312, which puts him in 19th place on the all-time list.  He has now saved games in all four Brewers victories during their streak.

Aramis Ramirez homered and Ryan Braun drove in a pair of runs for the Brewers offensively.  Scooter Gennett drove in a run with a triple.  He later singled for a second hit.

The Brewers opened the season with 16 of their first 19 games against teams that made it to the 2013 post season.  They went 14-5 during that stretch.

Yovani Gallardo (2-0, 1.46) pitches game 2 of the series for the Brewers tonight.  Ian Kennedy (1-3, 4.13) goes for San Diego.
