Brewers win streak reaches 7 games

The Milwaukee Brewers picked up where they left off when they returned home to Miller Park and knocked off the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 on Friday night.

Aramis Ramirez and Mark Reynolds homered and Wily Peralta worked 7-strong innings for the win as the Brewers captured their 7th straight and improved to 8-2 on the season.  The Brewers are off to their best start since opening the 1987 season by winning 13-straight games.

Ramirez leads the Brewers with a .395 average and improved to 8 for 11 (.727) with runners in scoring position.  He’s tied with Ryan Braun for the team lead in rbi’s with 10.

Ramirez’ homer was a two run blast to left.  Reynolds hit a solo shot and Carlos Gomez singled in the 4th run with a single that plated Rickie Weeks.  Neil Walker clubbed a two-out, two-run homer for the Pirates in the 7th, after Ramirez allowed Russell Martin to reach due to his throwing error.

Peralta allowed 4-hits and two walks while striking out four.  Milwaukee pitchers have now allowed three or fewer runs in 24 straight games, which is a franchise record.

Francisco Rodriguez struck out all three batters he faced in the 9th inning for his 3rd save.
