Brewers run win streak to 5

The Milwaukee Brewers ran their winning streak to five games, rallying to score five runs late and beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-4 at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday night.

The entire lineup his hitting the ball for the Brewers.  They’ve put together 27 hits in the first two games of the series.  Carlos Gomez and Mark Reynolds both homered as a part of the Brewers attack.

The clutch hitting was welcomed for the Brewers, with starter Matt Garza struggling through six innings.  The Phillies touched Garza for three runs in the first inning, but the Brewers right hander battled, allowing 8 hits and 2 walks.  He did balk in a run but for the most part, kept the Phillies from having a big inning after the first inning.

After his three homer game on Tuesday, Ryan Braun clubbed a two-run triple to center to cap a three run rally in the 8th.  That outburst broke a
4-4 tie.

The Brewers have started 5-0 on the road for the first time since 1987.  That year, they won their first 13-games overall.

The Brewers will play for the sweep tonight (6:05pm).  They’ll send Marco Estrada (0-0, 1.59 ERA) to the mound against Philadelphia’s Cliff Lee (2-0, 6.00 ERA).
