Packers to introduce new assistants today

Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy plans to introduce his new assistant coaches today.

Ron Zook, who coached with McCarthy in New Orleans and served as a head coach at Florida and Illinois, will be an assistant special teams coach.  Sam Gash, who coached for the Detroit Lions from 2007-’12, will fill the running backs position that opened when Alex Van Pelt was moved to quarterbacks coach to replace Ben McAdoo.

With the departure of Kevin Greene, the Packers are moving Winston Moss from inside linebackers to all of the linebackers.  Former quality control assistant Scott McCurley, will assist Moss.

Coaching administrator Jason Simmons, has been promoted to defensive/special teams assistant.  John Rushing will move from offensive to defensive quality control.  Luke Getsy has been hired as offensive quality control coach and Chris Gizzi (former Packers player) has been hired as strength and conditioning assistant.

The Packers now have 21 assistant coaches, the most of any team in the NFC North.
