Badgers welcome 25 scholarship recruits to program

The Wisconsin Badgers biggest area of need with the 2014 freshman recruiting class came at offensive line, wide receiver and secondary.  Of the 25 players they signed to National Letters of Intent, 16 of them played those three high-need positions.

The Badgers added six offensive lineman, five receivers and five defensive backs.  Four of Wisconsin’s 25 signees are already enrolled at Wisconsin: offensive linemen Jaden Gault and Michael Deiter, safety Austin Hudson and quarterback D.J. Gillins.

During his Wednesday press conference, Anderson said they want to get a look at Gillins (Jacksonville, Florida).

Wisconsin also added five walk-ons on signing day.  The class includes six scholarship athletes from Wisconsin, plus three of the walkons are from the state.

Depending on which recruiting service you look at, Wisconsin’s class ranked 25th to 40th nationally and 5th or 6th in the Big Ten.  But Anderson said he’s not a big fan of the recruiter rankings.
